Brisbane (Australia), June 14: Olympic swim champion Stephanie Rice turns 21 on Wednesday, but the girl who loves a party more than most, will be restricting her celebrations to a quiet dinner with her family in Brisbane, reports The Australian.

Rice is currently in the US and returns home on the day of her birthday to be with her family.

Amritsar, June 14: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports M.S. Gill, on Sunday said the government is keeping a watch on Indian hockey and would intervene to help where necessary.

Talking to the media after inaugurating the replaced astro turf at the hockey stadium of Guru Nanak Dev University, Gill said his ministry is determined to uplift the position of hockey and to hold the 2010 World Cup here in India.

"They looked relaxed and happy. They seemed close. They were hugging and smiling," the News of the World quoted an onlooker as saying.

Imran Farhat hopes to reclaim Pak team

Islamabad, June 14: In the hope of finding a place in the Pakistan cricket team, former opener Imran Farhat has decided to quit the Indian Cricket League (ICL).

According to the Dawn, Farhat is consulting his lawyer to help him quit the ICL without facing legal implications.

Farhat along with other 21 Pakistan cricketers had joined the ICL in 2007

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allowed various ICL players opting out of the league to play for the team, including Mohammad Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq and Rana Navid-ul-Hasan.

London, June 14: Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic, whom Barcelona and Real Madrid has been eyeing for long, has said that he has no desire to leave the Red Devils in the near future.

"I am very happy here and next season we will start again. I have got no desire to go anywhere. People forget that when you join a new league you don't just have to adjust to the country, you also have to adjust to the style of football,” News of the World quoted Nemanja Vidic, as saying.
