Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie donate $1m to U.S., Iraqi kids

Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated one million dollars to help children affected by the Iraq war.
The Jolie-Pitt Foundation has given 500,000 dollars to three groups in the war-torn country which will provide aid for some 5,700 children, said the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which is co-chaired by Jolie.
The other 500,000 dollars will go to the U.S.' Armed Services YMCA Operation Hero Program, which provides tutoring and counseling for children who have a parent stationed overseas or have lost a parent in the fighting.
"These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal," People quoted Jolie, as saying.
"We hope to encourage others to give to these great organizations," said Pitt.
Angelina Jolie, a United Nations goodwill ambassador, is well-known for her humanitarian work.
Jolie went on her second trip to Iraq in February, for a State Department mission to research the displacement crisis.
In May, she wrote an op-ed piece in The Washington Post calling for aid for Iraqi refugees.
