India record biggest one-day win over Pakistan

In tri-nation limited-overs international, India posted their biggest one-day win over Pakistan with a 140-run victory at Dhaka's Shere-Bangla Stadium.

 

India dismissed Pakistan for 190 to end their 12-match winning streak after scoring 330 for eight. India's previous highest victory over Pakistan was their 87-run win three years ago.

 


BCCI bans Harbhajan Singh for five One Day Internationals

Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has been banned for five One Day International (ODI) by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for slapping his teammate S Sreesanth.

 

The BCCI-appointed Commissioner Sudhir Nanavati submitted the report.

Former Indian skipper Sourav GangulyFormer skipper of Indian Cricket Team, Sourav Ganguly was lavish in his praise for veteran leg-spinner Anil Kumble, who made his debut as Test captain today against Pakistan at the Ferozshah Kotla stadium here.

“Kumble’s first day as captain was fantastic. He handled the bowlers and the field placements very well,” Ganguly said while addressing the media at the end of the opening day’s play of the first Test match.


Cricket fans face baton charge in Gwalior

Police resorted to baton charge on cricket fans here today following a row over entry into the Captain Roop Singh stadium where the fourth ODI between India and Pakistan is being played.

The spectators were complaining of not being allowed to enter inside the stadium in spite of having valid tickets.


Anil Kumble keen to take on Pakistan

India's newly-appointed Test captain Anil Kumble on Saturday said that the series against Pakistan is an important one and he would like to start well against them.

The veteran leg-spinner was appointed Test captain on Thursday, succeeding Rahul Dravid who quit the post in September.

"I think it is a great opportunity to do well against Pakistan. It's a tough team. It's  challenging for us so, its important for us to start well in Delhi," Kumble said.   


India, Pakistan cricket teams arrive in Guwahati

India and Pakistan cricket teams have reached Guwahati, where they will play their first match of the five one-day match series tomorrow.


The two teams were welcomed at the airport by a large number of cricket fans.


Security has been beefed up in Guwahati and security forces are alert to contain any challenge.


The manager of the Indian team, Lal Chand Rajput, bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad and fielding coach Rabin Singh are also accompanying the team.
