According to reports, General Pervez Musharraf will lift Emergency within 24 hours and resign the post of Army chief.
Tomorrow, Musharraf will address the nation after taking oath as a civilian president.
It is reported that all persons confined after the imposition of Emergency will be released soon.
US President George W Bush has said that Pervez Musharraf has taken "positive steps" by promising to lift the state of emergency, step down as Army Chief and hold elections.
"One country we need cooperation from is Pakistan," he said.
But, Bush added that he has confidence in the commitment of Pakistan’s leadership to stick with the US in fight against terror.
"We share a common goal," a foreign news agency quoted Bush, as saying.
